TopstepX sync failed or stalled: reconnect, or wait?
Updated September 6, 2026
Not every sync failure means something is wrong with your connection. Propfy separates the two cases, and the message you see tells you which one you have.
Reconnect
"Your TopstepX connection needs to be reconnected."
Your stored credential was rejected. Waiting will not fix it. This is what you see after changing your TopstepX password or rotating your API key, or if the key was revoked.
1. Open Accounts. 2. Reconnect TopstepX with your current API key. 3. Run a sync and confirm today's trades arrive.
Wait
"TopstepX is reconnecting. Please try again in a moment."
A sign-in is already in flight, or the connection is briefly holding off after repeated attempts. Give it a minute and sync again. Reconnecting here does nothing useful.
"TopstepX is unavailable. Please try again."
The broker did not answer, answered with an error, rate-limited us, or sent something we could not read. None of those say anything about your credential, so Propfy deliberately keeps your session rather than throwing it away and asking you to sign in again over a passing outage.
Try again in a few minutes. If it is still saying this after an hour, open a ticket.
Why the difference matters
Discarding a working session on a transient failure would send every trader on the platform back through a reconnect at the same moment, over an outage that resolved itself. So only a rejected credential ever clears a session.
Nothing is lost either way
A failed sync imports nothing; it does not delete anything. Trades already in your journal stay. When the connection is healthy again, the next sync picks up what it missed.
If reconnecting succeeds but trades from the outage window never arrive, open a ticket with the account and the dates.
