FTMO journaling for challenge and funded traders

An FTMO journal that understands equity-based daily loss.

Propfy brings its prop-first discipline engine to FTMO: import your MT4/MT5 statement today, get automatic sync as it rolls out, and review every session against the rules FTMO actually enforces — including the drawdown mechanics that differ from every futures firm.

MT4/MT5 statement import, today

Export the account statement from your platform’s History tab and drop it in. Full history, fees included, account and symbol mapping confirmed on import.

Auto-sync coming soon

A read-only MetaTrader connection that lands trades in your journal automatically is built and rolling out. Propfy does not present it as live before it is switched on.

FTMO’s rules, as FTMO measures them

Daily loss on equity including floating P&L, reset at Prague midnight; a static (non-trailing) max loss on the 2-Step Challenge. Different maths from futures firms — encoded, not approximated.

Global and USA kept separate

FTMO Global and FTMO USA (OANDA) run different programs. Propfy verifies and tracks each entity’s rules separately instead of blending them.

Decision-true review

The same discipline engine as Propfy’s futures journals: setups, rule adherence, planned-vs-actual size, and one correction per session.

Rules change — sources shown

FTMO revised its rules twice in 2026 already. Propfy stamps when each figure was verified and links first-party sources, so you can always check the current terms.

Direct answer

How do you journal FTMO trades?

Export your account statement from MT4/MT5 (History tab → save the report), import it into Propfy, confirm the account and symbol mapping, and review by setup, session, rule adherence, and drawdown room. Keep the platform as the source of truth and check imported totals before relying on the analysis. Automatic sync via a read-only MetaTrader connection is built and rolling out — the statement path works in full today.

Why FTMO journaling is not futures journaling

FTMO's risk rules are measured differently from the futures prop firms most journals were built around, and a journal that ignores the difference reports the wrong distance to the wrong line. Two mechanics matter most (figures verified 2026-08-06 against FTMO's published objectives — FTMO revises its rules, so confirm the current terms for your account):

The daily loss is equity-based and resets on Prague time. FTMO Global computes the daily limit against your equity including floating P&L, resetting at broker-server midnight (CET/CEST) — so an open position's drawdown counts against today even before you close it, and "the day" does not end when your local trading day does.

The 2-Step Challenge's maximum loss is static. It is fixed relative to the initial balance on day one and does not trail your equity high — fundamentally different from the trailing drawdown that defines Topstep-style accounts (we wrote a full explainer on that mechanic). The 1-Step program differs again, with an end-of-day trailing variant. Same brand, different maths per program — which is exactly why Propfy encodes each program separately.

The workflow, end to end

  1. 1. Export the statement

MT4/MT5 → History tab → full account history → save the report. Export per account if you run several.

  2. 2. Import into Propfy

Drop the file in, confirm account and symbol mapping, and verify the imported trade count and net P&L against the platform before trusting any statistic.

  3. 3. Review like a funded trader

Setups named, rules checked, planned-vs-actual size, drawdown room per account — ending in one correction for the next session.

  4. 4. Repeat daily, not monthly

A statement imported while you remember the session is a behavioral record; one backfilled at month-end is just accounting.

The general routine is the same one in our 10-minute end-of-day review; the journal template lists every column if you also keep a manual record.

Frequently asked questions

How do you journal FTMO trades in Propfy?

Export your MT4 or MT5 account statement from the platform’s History tab and import it into Propfy — your full trade history lands in the journal with account and symbol mapping you confirm on import. Automatic synchronization through a read-only MetaTrader connection is built and rolling out; until it is switched on for your account, the statement import gives you the same journal from your complete history.

Does Propfy track FTMO’s drawdown rules?

Yes — and it tracks them the way FTMO actually measures them, which differs from futures prop firms: FTMO Global computes the daily loss on equity including floating P&L and resets it at broker-server midnight (Prague time), and the 2-Step Challenge’s maximum loss is static from day one rather than trailing. Propfy’s FTMO support encodes those mechanics per account. FTMO revises its rules, so always verify current terms on ftmo.com.

Does Propfy support FTMO USA?

Propfy treats FTMO Global (ftmo.com) and FTMO USA (the OANDA partnership) as separate entities with separately verified rules, because their programs differ. Statement import works for both — MT4/MT5 history is MT4/MT5 history — while rule tracking uses whichever entity your account belongs to.
